Work Groups: Cost Reduction Techniques and Models

PURPOSE

To identify and compile ideas and best practice methods illustrating cost effective approaches to RCAC facility design, development, financing, staffing, programming and other operations. Results will be publicized through materials developed by the project, the affordable assisted living web site, and in training workshops and conferences.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A supply of moderately priced assisted living facilities and services is needed if assisted living is to become widely available to people of modest means. Part of our challenge is to find ways to reduce the cost of the creation and operation of assisted living developments as well as to tap into various sources of public support to pay for care provided to people participating in public long term support programs. This work group will identify areas where costs could potentially be reduced and information would be useful to potential developers and providers; provide direction for research into these areas; identify examples from Wisconsin or elsewhere; provide project specific information; and review and comment on the technical assistance material produced.
