Statistics and Other Information: Wisconsin Elderly Data

Here are sites for obtaining demographic information.

  1. State of Wisconsin Dept. of Administration Population Projections (WI DOA) Every ten years, the WI DOA creates population projections for the coming decade based on U.S. Census data. Its most recent projections were published in 1993, based on the 1990 Census. An updated set of projections based on 2000 Census data will not be available until 2003.

  2. U. S. Census 2000 Demographic Profile for Wisconsin, with a page for each county and each municipality.

  3. WI Department of Health and Family Service, Office for Persons with Physical Disabilities (OPPD) page on mobility limitations from the 1990 Census for WI counties. This does not include the Census question about "self-care limitations"; it appears that the 2000 questions are different , however, data is not available until Sept., 2002.

The following charts were derived from information from the WI DOA’s demographic information. The charts are based on the 1990 census and will be updated as the 2000 census is released.

This three show population by age, gender, and county projected in 5-year increments from 1995 to 2020.

The following charts show age broken out in 5-year increments and by county.
